Diphenylglyoxime gapped Ni2+ immobilized on multi-walled carbon nanotube: A new nanocatalyst for one-pot cyclopropanation reaction

Magnetic carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the form multi-walled (MWCNT) hybrid materials have attracted considerable attention from scientific communities owing to their promising applications in a variety of technical fields, such as medical and biosensor [1]. The use of Ni species as catalyst can be of great importance since Ni is a great alternative to precious metals for reactions from viewpoint of cost-efficiency [2]. A new heterogeneous nanocatalyst containing Ni and diphenylglyoxime as ligand, complex grafted to MWCNT was synthesized. This recoverable nanocomposite was applied as a highly effective, green, thermally stable catalyst for the one-pot cyclopropanation reaction (Scheme 1). The heterogeneous nanocomposite was well identified using SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, EDX analysis techniques. The eco-friendly nanocatalyst demonstrated excellent recyclability.
