Anti-corrosive eco-friendly UV-curable polyurethane acrylate/carbon quantum dots coating

One of the major applications of the polymer nanocomposite coatings is to protect the metal surfaces against corrosion prosses and prevent them from harmful effects of this phenomenon. The main goal of this research was the synthesis of UV-curable polyurethane acrylate/carbon quantum dots (PUA/CQDs) coating and the investigation of the corrosion resistance properties of the resulting nanocomposite. To perform this, carbon quantum dots 0.5wt% was added to urethane acrylate resin and PUA/CQDs 0.5wt% nanocomposite coating was prepared. For the step subsequent to this, anti-corrosive features of the pure polymer coating and the coating with CQDs were evaluated by salt spray test. The results confirmed the improved corrosion resistance of the resulting nanocomposite.
