Synthesis and application of novel TMU-17-UR as hydrogen bonding catalyst for the preparation of pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinolin-5-one derivatives

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are an attractive class of hybrid crystalline materials that consist of organic linkers and metal nodes. Metal-organic frameworks have found wide applications in various fields due to their high surface area, adjustable holes, suitable morphology and designability. The defined reaction environments, tunable nature and purposeful preparation of MOFs has made this class of catalysts suitable candidates for catalytic purposes [1]. In recent years, the use of catalysts based on hydrogen bond activation has made significant progress. This category of catalysts has been used in various reactions such as Diels-Alder reactions, Mannich reactions, Claisen rearrangements, multi-component reactions, etc. Therefore, hydrogen bond catalysts are suitable candidates for catalyzing chemical reactions [2]. Quinoline compounds are a group of organic compounds that are classified in the heterocycle group. Compounds containing quinoline are used as antimalarial, antifungals, antibacterial and local anesthetics [3]. In this report, we used TMU-17-UR, which is a novel hydrogen bond catalyst, to synthesize pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinolin-5-one derivatives. High reaction speed, proper efficiency, recycling and reuse of the catalyst are among the features of this research work.
