Investigating The Kinetics Of Polyurethane Formation Based On HTPB-IPDI By Chemorheological Method

Kinetics of polyurethane formation based on HTPB (Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene) - IPDI (Isophorone diisocyanate) was investigated using Arrhenius and Ehring equations. The method of calculating kinetic data was based on chemorheological studies. In this method, the criterion of reaction speed is changes in viscosity. According to the studies, the reaction kinetics between HTPB prepolymer and IPDI curing agent is two-step. The activation energy rate constant, activation entropy and reaction activation enthalpy were calculated for each step. The results show that the first stage of the reaction is faster than the second stage. According to the kinetic data extracted from the reaction, a reaction mechanism between curing agent and prepolymer was proposed.
