CO2 methanation via Cobalt-Iron catalysts: the effect of Fe addition on activity

In this study, Co and CoFe catalysts supported on Ceria-Zirconia composite are facilely synthesized by impregnation method and their catalytic performance in the CO2 methanation process are investigated. Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) and N2 adsorption/desorption analysis were used to characterize the proposed catalysts. The obtained results showed that the CoFe/CZ catalyst exhibited good CO2 conversion and CH4 selectivity, especially at lower temperatures, due to the synergistic effect of cobalt and iron metals. The maximum value of conversion was related to the CoFe/CZ catalyst with 60% CO2 conversion and 99% CH4 selectivity at 400°C.
