چکیده مقاله :
The infection caused by harmful bacteria is a notable danger for global public health, leading to many deaths every year. It is essential to develop antibiotic alternatives or antibiotic delivery systems for deactivating bacteria with drug resistance. This work presents the synthesis of a copper tannic acid metal-organic framework (CuTA) and graphene quantum dot (GQD) nanocomposite, GQD/CuTA, using a simple, environmentally-friendly, and cost-effective method. The nanocomposite exhibits exceptional colloidal and antibacterial properties. First, GQDs were synthesized from citric acid through a novel and straightforward approach. Then, CuTA was grown in the presence of GQDs via an in-situ synthesis method to form the GQD/CuTA nanocomposite. Characterization using various techniques confirmed the successful synthesis of the nanomaterials. The GQD/CuTA nanocomposite demonstrated significant antibacterial activity against both E. coli and S. aureus. Furthermore, cytocompatibility studies showed good compatibility of the nanocomposite with human dermal fibroblast cells (HFF-2). Overall, the synthesized GQD/CuTA nanocomposite holds promise as a safe photoluminescent nanoplatform with strong antimicrobial properties.
