چکیده مقاله :
Meeting society’s demands needs alternative bio-friendly and sustainable energy resources. Hydrogen is the key component in terms of energy economy, and electrochemical water splitting is one of the most important techniques to replace the commonly used fossil fuels [1-3]. Here, for the first time, magnetic lignosulfonate-supported Schiff base copper(II) complex (Scheme 1) was prepared and used as an efficient electrocatalyst in carbon paste electrode (MLig-SchTet-Cu(II)-CPE) for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The fabricated electrocatalyst comprising magnetic biopolymer, Schiff base Cu(II) complex was added to CPE to improve the HER activity of bare CPE. The HER efficiency/stability of the prepared electrode was measured by LSV, CV, EIS, and CP methods in acidic and alkaline media. The best result for HER was achieved in 0.5 M H2SO4 and 2.5% of the electrocatalyst percent. The optimal electrode (2.5% MLig-SchTet-Cu(II)-CPE) has an excellent electrocatalytic activity for HER in acidic media equal to -0.54 mV overpotential at a current density of 10 mA·cm-2.
