Synthesis of new Schiff bases based on 5-(imidazol-1-yl)salicylaldehyde and their metal complexes

چکیده مقاله :
The metal complexes of Schiff bases have attracted a lot of attention in the scientific community due to their unique properties and comprehensive applications in various fields of industry and biology [1]. On the other hand, organic materials with high π-conjugation and resonance often show interesting and valuable optical and electrochemical properties [2]. In this research work, we first prepared phenolic derivatives containing tetraarylimidazole moiety by using multi-component reaction and then synthesize the corresponding salicylaldehyde derivatives by Duff reaction (Scheme1). In the next step, these products were converted into the corresponding Schiff bases during the condensation reaction with primary aromatic or aliphatic amines that accompanied with the removal of water during the condensation process. In order to synthesis metal complexes, we then treated these Schiff base derivatives with transition metal salts [3]. The structure of all products were established by analytical and spectroscopy methods.
