In-situ synthesizing antibacterial metal-organic framework within the bio-polymer hydrogel film: A potential platform for wound dressing

In the history of modern medicine, there has been a serious risk of antibacterial drugs as losing their effectiveness against bacteria [1]. In this regard, nanocomposite hydrogel films based on natural polymers such as cellulose have been recently proposed as antibacterial platform[2]. In this work, antibacterial Ag-based metal-organic framework (Ag@NH2-BDC) were developed to increase the biological efficiency of cellulose hydrogel films. Also NH2-BDC ligands were synthesized in the lab, various analysis methods were utilized for the validation of successful formation of the nanocomposites such as EDX, Mapping, SEM, AFM and etc. Antibacterial studies showed inhibition zone of 17 ± 0.5 mm for the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, respectively. Considering obtained results, the prepared nanocomposite hydrogel films have good potential to be employed as antibacterial bio-platform.
