Simple synthesis of novel polymer nanocomposite based on ferrite cobalt/ silver bromide for removal of dye

Among the treatment technologies discussed about the removal of dyes, the adsorption technique has been taken into consideration in which incorporation of nanotechnology by applying nanomaterials as adsorbents has been given prime importance [1]. In this regard, the use of metal nanocomposites such as ferrite cobalt promoted the role of nanomaterials due to their unique physical and chemical properties compared with conventional materials [2]. In this work, first synthesized CoFe2O4 nanoparticles with properties their high coactivity, magneto crystalline anisotropy, moderate saturation magnetization, chemical stability, wear resistance, and electrical insulation by hydrothermal process and then CoFe2O4/AgBr nanocomposite by easy and efficient precipitation method. Citric acid, Co(NO3)2.6H2O, Fe(NO3)3.9H2O, NaBr, and AgNO3 were used as primary chemicals. Then polymer nanocomposite by adding polyacrylic acid (PAA) was made into CoFe2O4/AgBr nanocomposite. The effects of various factors on the removal efficiency of methylene blue dye were studied such as pH, concentration, catalyst dosage, and time. The prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.
