Modification of cryptomelane (K-OMS-2) and its application in reduction of nitriles to amides

چکیده مقاله :
The conversion of nitriles to amides is one of the most important reactions in organic syntheses and chemical industries, because amides are versatile synthetic intermediates in the production of pharmaceutical products, polymers and Detergents. A common methodology for the title reaction is using a catalyst in the presence of organic solvents. However, the main problems of classical methods include: a) the need for harsh reaction conditions that can be harmful for sensitive functional groups b) complexity in recycling and reuse of catalyst, c) use of organic solvents.[1-3] development of Cryptomalen (k-OMS-2) is a crystalline solid with a hollow structure.This catalyst is unique due to high activity, small particle size, and high surface area [4].Here in, we report the application of transition metal modifird cryptomelane(M-OMS-2, where M = Ni, Ag) as an efficient catalyst for selective reduction of nitriles to amides in aqueous solution
