چکیده مقاله :
A major contributor to climate change is carbon dioxide which also plays an important role in global warming. Therefore, any organic reactions that consume CO2 under sustainable conditions can be desirable from green chemistry. Coupling carbon dioxide with epoxides and producing cyclic carbonates is one of the 100% atom economic reactions.[1] Recently, mesoporous organosilica materials have received considerable attention due to their high porosity, large surface area, and ability to adjust pore size.[2] Herein, a new periodic mesoporous organosilica with the imidazolium frameworks (I@PMO) is described as a novel catalyst for this important transformation. Under optimized reaction conditions, various terminal epoxides have been converted to the corresponding cyclic carbonates in the presence of 0.5 mol% I@PMO at 80 °C within short reaction times (Scheme 1). Reaction selectivity and reactivity of the catalyst was not decreased even after five consecutive runs.
