Modified Species of the Natural Rubber

چکیده مقاله :
Natural rubber (NR) is a valuable material of natural origination with growing demand worldwide. Natural rubber was the subject of intensive investigation with respect to its chemical reactions and the preparation of commercially useful derivatives. One of the biggest disadvantages of NR is low resistance to aging, ozone, and saturated hydrocarbons. The reason is the high chemical activity of the isoprene unit in the NR molecule. To overcome this disadvantage, effective modification techniques for NR property improvement are continuously developed. Some products obtained from modification reactions are depolymerized rubber, cyclized rubber, chlorinated rubber, rubber hydrochloride, epoxidized rubber, and deproteinated rubber. All the natural rubber derivatives mentioned earlier are useful types and have specific applications. This article deals particularly with methods of chemical modification of NR and wide applications of these valuable materials
