چکیده مقاله :
Phase-transfer catalysis (PTC) has long been recognized as a versatile method for organic synthesis in industrial and academic laboratories [1]. A catalyst enables a phase-transfer reaction in a heterogeneous system between general organic compounds soluble in organic solvents and water-soluble compounds such as mineral salts. A phase-transfer catalyst is soluble in both solvents and transports the anions of mineral salts to organic solvents and returns them to the water phase [2]. Cyclodextrins are a family of natural macrocycles. The cavity size of beta-cyclodextrin is more suitable than other cyclodextrins to include a wide range of is organic molecules [3]. Benzylation of phenol is one of the important organic reactions. The importance of this reaction is due to the application of benzyl phenol products in various fields such as the production of antioxidants, rubbers and plastics and other intermediate materials [4] .In this work, we want to report the use of trimethyl beta-cyclodextrin (TM-β-CD), as a phase- transfer catalyst for green benzylation of phenols in water.
