Magnetically responsive graphene oxide and multi-wall carbon nanotubes as demulsifier for oil removal from crude oil-in-water emulsion

چکیده مقاله :
Large oil spills and crude oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion discharges from industrial activities have serious impacts on the environment with potentially major economic impacts [1, 2]. A magnetically responsive mixture frommulti-walled carbon nanotubes and grafen oxide (M-MWCNT-GO) appropriate for acidic to alkaline conditions of crude O/W emulsion was designed and prepared via regulating the content of surface functional groups (such as -NH2, -OH and -COOH). The M-MWCNT-GO was confirmed as an efficient demulsifier and the corresponding demulsification efficiency achieved the highest when its dosage was increased to 300 mg/L. Significantly, the M-MWCNT-GO has superior demulsification performance under wide pH levels(Scheme)
