چکیده مقاله :
Phase-transfer catalysis is a general method applicable to many types of reactions in which organic and inorganic anions as well as carbenes and other active species react with organic compounds. Contrary to the general tendency to carry out chemical reactions in homogeneous environments, according to the concept of phase-transfer catalyst reactions, the reaction is carried out in a heterogeneous two-phase system where the first phase is a source of reaction anions or a game to produce organic anions. while organic reactants and catalysts (source of lipophilic cations) are in the second phase, the organic phase [1]. Cyclodextrins (CDs) can form selective host-guest complexes in aqueous media through supramolecular interactions, and therefore, they are suitable host molecules for designing phase-transfer catalysts operating in aqueous media [2]. In this work, we intend to report the green ring-cleavage reaction of styrene oxide, a water-insoluble epoxide, in water by different nucleophiles in the presence of trimethyl-β-cyclodextrin (TM-β-CD) as the nanoreactor. In addition, reaction parameters involved in the ring-cleavage reaction, such as temperature, time, amount of nanoreactor, and regiochemistry of the ring-cleavage, have been investigated.
