Preparation of mixed metal oxides nanocatalyst for three-component synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-napthol under solvent free condition

Mixed metal oxides catalysts are one of the most widely used compounds in various technical field especially in catalytic reactions, which is due to their excellent physicochemical properties [1]. The amidoalkyl naphthol derivatives are valuable compounds in terms of pharmacological and biological activity [2]. This work reports the synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthol through a three-component reaction in solvent-free conditions. The reaction was catalyzed using metal oxide nanocomposite as an efficient nanocatalyst. Identification of nanocatalyst was carried out using FT-IR, TGA, SEM, XRD and BET. The synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthol takes place from the reaction of 2-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes and amides (Scheme1). The efficiency of the prepared nanocatalyst is 99% which could be attributed to the numerous Lewis acid sites on the surface of nanocatalyst. Recyclability of the nanocatalyst was investigated by 10 successive runs. In addition, effect of various factors including reaction time, temperature and catalyst amount was studied on the yield of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphtol production. Products were identified by FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
